Biography

Noemi Ponce

She/Her

I am an eighteen-year-old Mexican-American analog and digital photographer from the Far Southwest Side of Chicago. I take photographs of my family, landscapes, and anything I can capture whenever I have my camera. Most of my work is black and white, shot on an analog or digital camera. I like playing around with contrast from on my images to make certain parts stand out more than others. To create my photographs, I shoot rolls of film, process them with chemicals, and spend numerous hours making prints in the darkroom or scanning. Afterward, I carefully edit my images in Photoshop. Through these methods, I aim to capture and represent Latin American identity in Chicago through portraits or candid moments, and encourage the viewers to connect with the subject.
